Mitzvahs are one of the things we do best. A great bar or bat mitzvah is a different job from a wedding: it has to keep a room full of teenagers and their grandparents on the floor at the same time, carry the energy of the hora, and let the family enjoy the night rather than run it. We have DJed, MCed, and brought dancers to mitzvahs across Westchester for over thirty years. Here are some of the Westchester venues we know well.
Westchester country clubs and event venues
Larger rooms built for celebrations, where the space can carry a full mitzvah production of DJ, MC, dancers, and lighting.
- Metropolis Country Club (White Plains) and Knollwood Country Club (Elmsford).
- Coveleigh Club (Rye) and Bronxville Field Club.
- The Fenway Golf Club (Scarsdale).
- Tappan Hill and Tarrytown House Estate (Tarrytown).
- Sheraton Tarrytown and Westchester Manor.
- Reid Castle at Manhattanville University (Purchase).
Synagogues and temples
Many Westchester families celebrate at their own congregation. We are used to working within a synagogue’s space and guidelines while still delivering a full, high-energy party.
- Temple Israel Center (White Plains).
- Bet Am Shalom (White Plains).
- Congregation B’nai Yisrael (Armonk).
- Congregation Emanu-El of Westchester (Rye).
Why mitzvah entertainment is a different job
A mitzvah lives or dies on energy and inclusion. The DJ and MC have to read two crowds at once, run the games and the hora, hype the kids without losing the adults, and keep the whole thing moving so the guest of honor and their parents can actually enjoy it. That is why we bring more than a DJ: MCs, dancers, lighting, and the experience to run the room. You can see the full setup on our mitzvah entertainment page, and our local base for Westchester events is our White Plains and Westchester page.
Frequently asked questions
Which Westchester mitzvah venues does Expressway work at?
We have run bar and bat mitzvahs across Westchester for over thirty years, at country clubs like Metropolis and Knollwood, event spaces like Tappan Hill and Tarrytown House, and synagogues including Temple Israel Center and Bet Am Shalom. If your venue is not listed, there is a good chance we know it.
How is a mitzvah different from a wedding for a DJ?
A mitzvah has to keep teenagers and adults engaged at the same time, run the hora and the games, and carry high energy all night, while letting the family enjoy the celebration. It usually calls for a DJ, an MC, and dancers working together, not just a DJ.
Can you DJ a mitzvah at our synagogue?
Yes. We regularly work within synagogue spaces and their guidelines while still delivering a full, high-energy party. Tell us your congregation and we will plan around its setup.
